Berket Well

Berket Well (/berket wɛl / [Translation Unavailable]) is a subtropical Town located in Níníy Dutchy, Loqulate Kingdom, within the Sylvanian Empire.

The name Berket Well is derived from the Sylvin language, as Berket Well was founded by Tegme Blakely, who was culturaly Sylvin.

Climate

Berket Well has a yearly average temperature of 18°C (64°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a warm 26°C (78°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a cold 10°C (50°F). Berket Well receives an average of 137 cm/y (53 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of rain during the spring. Berket Well covers an area of nearly 4 km² (1 mi²), and an average elevation of 5376 m (17637 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Berket Well was founded durring the early 14th century in fall of the year 1333, by Tegme Blakely. The establishment of Berket Well was only bairly constructed. The sheer number of problems with its founding were enough to make several of the backers funding Berket Well 's construction back out of the project. Tegme Blakely pushed on reguardles, and Berket Well was finished, but starts off as a terible place to live.

Berket Well was built using the conventions of Sylvin durring the early 14th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Berket Well is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature timber framed wooden shiethed or brick construction, which gives form to a very formalized, rational, expence effishent arcatectural style based on strictly symmetrical designs which universaly feature pitched roofs, shutters, and the occasional column or pilaster for a decorative touch.

Berket Well is is constructed arround a semi-circular narrow canals mainstreet, with smaller strait roads linking the circiles to eachother at varrious points. The town rests behind a thick wall made from clay bricks. The wall has all of the proper fortifications and is well made. Unfortuantly the nature of clay brick leaves it quite vulnerable to siege equipment, though the thickness of the wall lends it simmilar resistnace to a thinner hardrock wall. Berket Well 's millitarily questionable fortifications are suffering from significent damage, so much so that examples can be pointed to no matter which section one might have within their line of site, and most of which render sections inoperable at present.

Right off the bat Berket Well hits you in the face with its success. Everyone, even the peasants, are dressed in well made clothing. Every tool and implement you can see is finely made, and people will boast to you as obvious strangers of the wonders which can be found in their markets. More interestingly is a total lack of beggars, and plenty of new buildings are going up even as you speak. Many of those buildings are schools, scriptoriums, and even one college. One can only wonder what knowledge the town has come into.

Berket Well possesses an older civil lighting system consisting of street lamps. These lights provide nighttime illumination to most city streets.

Berket Well has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands.

Berket Well has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Cultural Notes

Berket Well 's mayor's house was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used which employed abundant symbolic geometry, using pure forms such as the circle and square, and plans are based on often symmetrical layouts featuring rectangular courtyards and halls. These structures were is decorated with carved stone or stucco reliefs and made use of colorful stone mosaics..

Due to the actions of local Kami, winter is long in Berket Well .

The Razor Fern near Berket Well are known to be almost tame, such that they can be put to domestic use.

Berket Well 's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in spring and involves embarking on a group pilgrimage to channel Augury energies of tier 2 via singing.
